About Us
The Fred Hollows Foundation is one of Australia’s most respected and trusted international development organisations whose vision is to end avoidable blindness and ensure the work of Fred Hollows lives on. The Foundation works in 26 countries across Africa, Asia, The Pacific and the Middle East as well as in Australia.
Established in 2011, our program in Indonesia aims to demonstrate the value of investment in eye health to provincial and district governments by comprehensively strengthening eye care services to contribute to the reduction of blindness in the Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) province. Currently The Fred Hollows Foundation is now a valued though minor partner within the Indonesian eye health community.
Following the success of these pilots, we are now focusing on how we can strive for “transformative change” in eye health in Indonesia. We are looking to expand our programs, activities and partnerships including with the National Eye Hospital based in West Java, collaborating with the eye health and broader health community of Indonesia, and from that base contributing as a partner to achieving the transformative change, which is required.
