Smart Change – Strengthening Urban Governance, Prosperity and Innovation in Jakarta
Project overview: The aim of the project is to promote good governance and sustainable urban development in Jakarta in accordance with Agenda 2030/Sustainable Development Goals through the city partnership between Jakarta-Berlin and in triangular cooperation with Bangkok.
The aim of the entrepreneurship work package is to promote local economic growth in the city of Jakarta with an entrepreneurial ecosystem that enables growth and development of start-ups and generates jobs.
The activities include in detail: Installation of a platform for entrepreneurship and innovation for start-ups, founders and innovators to exchange and collaborate, a tailor-made accelerator programme and a learning platform (with numerous online courses) for innovative start-ups (with a focus on Smart City), preparation and certification of local organisations as providers of entrepreneurship support and accompanying programmes for start-ups and finally the development of a strategy for an entrepreneurial ecosystem with an implementation plan for Jakarta City.
The project is jointly implemented by the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Enterprises and the Jakarta Provincial Government, with support from the City of Bangkok as associate partner. The cooperation of the local authorities is intended to foster knowledge transfer and capacity building of Jakarta Provincial Government and further local policy makers and stakeholders.
The strategies and pilot solutions developed in the project aiming for exchange, joint learning and start-up support, promote capacity building in Jakarta Municipality. The resulting innovations for sustainable urban development are expected to have an impact throughout Indonesia. Jakarta’s citizens will benefit directly from the new services provided by local authorities and from economic growth.
