JMS was founded in 1995 under the name of the Jakarta International Montessori School. In 2007, it was taken over by PT Daya Multibudaya and the school’s name was changed to the Jakarta International Multicultural School (JIMS).

On January 26, 2015   – Jakarta International Multicultural School (known as JIMS) an IB-Cambridge World School educating Jakarta, unveiled a fresh new identity, symbolized by the introduction of a new logo that signifies its culture and celebrates the multicultural identity built over the school’s 10-year history. Now we are Jakarta Multicultural School (JMS).

The launch of our new logo kicks-off a new spirit at JMS (Jakarta Multicultural School ) that speaks to who we are as an International School and that we are a direct reflection of the multicultural community we serve   – diverse, modern and global.

We are proud to be a part of the evolving education industry in Jakarta, and our new logo will now illustrate how far JMS has come in it’s 10-year history.

We’ve evolved form a Montessori school to an IB World School and Cambridge curriculum based Secondary School on 2005, connecting with diverse culture of Jakarta’s expatriate and local residents scene, while continuing to embody the spirit, passion, ingenuity and courage that are the fundamental values of Jakartans culture.


JMS is an International Baccalaureate (IB) school and also a registered Cambridge International Centre (CIC) with the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). JIMS implements the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) for the Primary school and the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and A Level curricula for Secondary.

Away from busy streets and toll roads, JMS is located on 1.5 hectares of land in a secure and green environment that boasts excellent facilities. Taking pride in addressing the growing need for a warm, familiar and student-oriented place to study, the school has a low teacher-to-student ratio that enables us to pay close attention to the individual needs, learning preferences, and talents of each of our pupils. Students are therefore always challenged and actively engaged.

JMS’ students come from diverse nationalities and the PYP and Cambridge curricula help them to develop a multicultural awareness and appreciation that enriches their studies and school life. Multiculturalism has been at the heart of JMS since its earliest days, and the school’s motto; ‘Expanding Horizons, Valuing Diversity and Connecting Minds’, not only applies to the students, but also to the dedicated team of caring and professional staff. Our teachers are qualified, experienced practitioners from Asia, Europe and America.

In order to meet the needs of all English levels within our community, we provide intensive courses in our Language Centre with an excellent success rate in equipping students with the skills needed to actively participate in lessons.
