AFJ is a grassroots not for profit organization that began with six people living in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, concerned about the plight of animals in their community. In early 2010, they got together and decided, joining forces would be more effective in educating the community, than working individually so they formed a small group they called ‘Animal Friends Jogja [AFJ]‘.
Seven years on, AFJ is now one of the leading Animal welfare and activist groups in the region with an effective group of programs and campaigns that have seen real change occurring in mindsets and behaviour towards animals in the community.
AFJ is committed to improving the welfare of animals in the community whether domestic or wild; working or farm animals, they must have a voice in Indonesia. We believe that through proactive education, advocacy, campaigns, rescues, networking with related organizations and communities, and promoting grassroots activism, we can help reduce the suffering of animals in Indonesia.
We are simply friends who share similar views on treating non-human animals with the respect and compassion they so rightly deserve, including the right to live free from unnecessary suffering and exploitation. Animal Friends Jogja | animals.friendship.nature
