Project Overview
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is an international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations. Its corporate objective is to improve people’s living conditions on a sustainable basis. GIZ has been working in Indonesia since 1975 on behalf of the German Government.
Supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) through its International Climate Initiative (IKI), the project “Climate and Biodiversity Hub Indonesia” aims to support the Indonesian government in strengthening the mainstreaming and implementation of its climate and biodiversity policy. The project is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and with two Executing Agencies: Ministry of Development Planning/BAPPENAS and Ministry of Environment/Environmental Management Agency (MoE/EMA), and Ministry Forestry (MoF).
MoE/EMA, MoF and GIZ implement a component of the Climate and Biodiversity Hub Project that is called “Climate and Biodiversity Project (CLARITY)”. The CLARITY project aims to strengthen policy framework that creates the enabling conditions for a more effective and cohesive implementation of climate change mitigation, adaptation and biodiversity conservation measures.
To support the implementation of the CLARITY project, GIZ seeks one (1) motivated and qualified Indonesian candidate for this position.
Responsibilities
The trainee will support the implementation of the CLARITY project in terms of Climate Adaptation and Mitigation policy, carbon economic value, MRV and capacity building.
Tasks
The following tasks provide a framework and can be adjusted during the traineeship:
- Providing an innovative and a creative idea and contribute to the communications, presentation material (outreach) development and infographics for CLARITY project.
- Providing documentation products and editing such as photograph, video, articles as publication materials
- Supporting the coordination and communication with partners such as Ministry of Environment/ Environmental Management Agency), and Ministry of Forestry.
- Assisting the CLARITY project in preparing meeting, MoM and other event implementation.
- Supporting on the administration in case-by-case basis and document translation (if required).
- Assisting in analysing climate policy and preparing policy brief.
- Performing other relevant tasks as requested.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Recent graduated or final year undergraduate/graduate student, majoring in climate change, environment, urban planning, agriculture, meteorology, biology, international relations, communication, digital, public relations, public policy, or any related major.
- Experience and or strong interest in analytical skills, event management, and digital (social media).
- Experience in supporting the implementation of event e.g. workshop/discussion, meeting.
- Basic knowledge and strong interest on the climate policy.
Other knowledge, additional competences
- Good communication, organisational, and project management skills.
- Good command of Ms. Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Canva, video editing software and design/website software is a plus.
- Experience with working (internship) with international development cooperation is an advantage.
- Proficiency in English and excellent writing skills is a desirable.
- Ability to work in a team and to adapt to fast and dynamic environment.

Duty Station: Jakarta
Working Hours: 5 working days per week, 8 working hours per day
Period of Traineeship: 6 months (1 June 2025 – 30 June 2025)
