SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT

The DFAT-funded Knowledge Partnership Program (KONEKSI) is Australia’s flagship program in the Indonesia knowledge and innovation sector. KONEKSI’s goal is to achieve an enduring relationship between Indonesia and Australia that advances mutual interest and supports Indonesia’s inclusive and sustainable development. The purpose of the programme is to increase the use of knowledge-based solutions for inclusive and sustainable policies and technologies. KONEKSI has the following two End of Investment Outcomes (EOIOs): :

  • Australian and Indonesian organisations have increased collaboration and mutual understanding through knowledge partnerships; and
  • Innovative solutions for inclusive and sustainable policies and technologies are generated by knowledge partnerships.

 

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

The Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion Adviser is responsible for implementing the KONEKSI GEDSI strategy as well as designing and directing GEDSI programming for KONEKSI. This includes support for GEDSI networks, GEDSI approaches in knowledge partnerships, and GEDSI analyses. This position is open to Indonesian and international experts.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide leadership and direction for implementation of the KONEKSI GEDSI strategy and adapt and update it as needed during the duration of the program
  • Design and direct GEDSI programming for KONEKSI in cooperation with the GEDSI team
  • Support GEDSI networks, GEDSI approaches to knowledge partnerships and GEDSI analysis in Australia and Indonesia for the KONEKSI program
  • Provide strategic direction on GEDSI issues in the research and innovation sector in Australia and Indonesia to DFAT, GOI, and the KONEKSI Strategic Leadership team to guide strategic planning and respond to program developments
  • Liaise with relevant GEDSI experts to provide GEDSI technical assistance to knowledge partnerships including peer review and professional development on GEDSI approaches in collaborative research
  • Contribute to planning, monitoring, evaluation, and learning, and adaptation of GEDSI approach to increase responsiveness to stakeholder needs and increase potential for impact
  • Provide guidance on KONEKSI research and innovation agenda from a GEDSI perspective
  • Provide articles and other written materials to support program communication

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Advanced degree in a relevant discipline

 

Qualifications:

 

  • 10-15 years’ experience working in senior level positions in complex work environments
  • Thought leader on gender equality, disability, and social inclusion in research and innovation
  • Sophisticated understanding of GEDSI theoretical concepts as well as their practical application in line with DFAT`s International Assistance Policy and priorities and the broader Australian and Indonesian context
  • Demonstrated ability to apply GEDSI approaches in the research and innovation sector and work with a range of stakeholders including academia, government, and civil society
  • Extensive network of GEDSI related specialists, experts, and practitioners in Australia and Indonesia
  • Deep and applied experience in developing and enhancing GEDSI awareness, capacity, and application within teams and with stakeholders
  • Previous experience developing GEDSI markers or indicators to effectively and equitably track GEDSI progress
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills and sophisticated emotional intelligence
  • Ability to work strategically and effectively in a high pace environment
  • Experience in translating intersectional GEDSI approaches to knowledge partnerships
  • Demonstrated track record building teams and achieving GEDSI results in the international development context with Australian and Indonesian stakeholders

 

Language Proficiency:

  • Fluency in English required, Fluency/Knowledge in Bahasa Indonesia desirable
