Job Description
G|Exponencial is seeking a Qualitative Research Consultant in Indonesia for a short-term assignment scheduled for the second half of 2026, with the specific dates yet to be determined. A small number of additional days in early 2027 may also be required. The assignment is part of a multi-country evaluation and will involve conducting key informant interviews (KII) and focus group discussions (FGD).
The selected consultant will be primarily responsible for: conducting document reviews; building stakeholder maps; scheduling participants for interviews and focus group discussions; facilitating and recording the respective sessions; taking detailed clean notes for sharing; and writing a 10–15 page case study with precise sourcing of every claim. All work must adhere to the evaluation guidelines and protocols provided by the evaluation team.

Job Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience in qualitative research, or a PhD in a relevant field.
- Demonstrated substantive qualitative research skills, including design and facilitation of interviews, focus groups, and participatory methods, as well as systematization of qualitative data
- Demonstrated experience conducting case studies
- Experience working with civil society organizations, government institutions, and private sector actors
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Commitment to ethical research norms and practices
- National and resident of Indonesia
- Willingness to travel to collect data in Bandung and West Manggarai
Desirable:
- Strong ability to analyze (i) power dynamics and (ii) institutional change
- Established networks with civil society and local government in Bandung and/or West Manggarai
- Experience working with youth-led initiatives or youth organizations
- Experience working with women’s organizations or applying a gender lens in evaluation
Language requirements: Must be fully fluent in English. Desirable: proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia and relevant local languages.
Availability: A selection of days within the second half of 2026 and possibly early 2027, to be agreed upon with the selected consultant taking into consideration the consultant’s availability and the evaluation timetable.
Location: Indonesia-based, with travel to Bandung and West Manggarai.
