Job Description

Grow Asia and Corteva Agriscience™ have created a new, joint initiative to progress economic empowerment of women farmers and agripreneurs in Java, Indonesia. The joint initiative is called THRIVE (Train Her to Promote Resilient, Inclusive Value Chains and Economic Empowerment). THRIVE is seeking a short-term Project Associate, to manage daily functions of the project.  Applicants must be currently living in Java to conduct the following activities:

  • Collaborate closely with the Grow Asia Singapore team, Corteva Indonesia field staff, PRISMA staff, and project contractors to deliver the following activities in Java:
    • Coordinate logistics and attend trainings for women farmers on non-agronomic topics, including health/family well-being, sales and marketing, and budgeting/access to finance
    • Coordinate logistics and attend two networking and skills-building events for 20-30 women
    • Conduct interviews with women agripreneurs
    • Coordinate a mentorship arrangement with women agripreneurs and corporate staff
  • Manage invoicing
  • Support local partner to design and deliver monitoring and evaluation plan
  • Support data collection
  • Collaborate with short-term consultants
  • Attend all meetings of the project partners (Corteva, Grow Asia and PRISMA)
  • Support drafting and editing of project reports
  • Support in-country program needs as requested by the Corteva Indonesia or Grow Asia teams

Job Requirements

  1. Self-starter, self-motivated and able to work with little supervision
  2. Must be fluent in written and spoken Bahasa Indonesia and English
  3. Must be based in Java
  4. Expertise working with or conducting research on smallholder farmers in Indonesia (plus if experience is in Java)
  5. Experience working on issues of gender equality or women’s economic empowerment, ideally in agri value chains
  6. Experience engaging with private sector actors
  7. Experience managing and facilitating trainings and events (logistics, budget management, engaging stakeholders), experience managing events virtually a plus
  8. Excellent interpersonal skills
  9. Excellent communications skills
  10. Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite products, online meeting platforms (especially Zoom)
