Job Description

In one sentence, this full-time job exists to ensure that the implementation of the AktivAsia project in Indonesia runs effectively and efficiently, taking into account the principles of high participation of its constituents, and accountability to its supporters.

This role will assist AktivAsia in implementing 3 important programs in Indonesia:

  1. Organise training for campaigners and community organisers working on climate justice and social justice issues in key areas of Indonesia.
  2. Setting up a national training team platform by organising training alumni in key areas and preparing them to become trainers and facilitators.
  3. Nurture the alumni community to stay connected and continue to share their learnings and experiences in applying their knowledge and skills.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Together with the Project Lead, develop a detailed project implementation plan.
  • Assist Project Lead in ensuring all ongoing projects are implemented according to requirements, budget and of good quality.
  • Contribute to effective and timely project evaluation and reporting.

Training Coordination 

  • Prepare the implementation of training, including coordinating with partners in preparation and implementation.
  • Carry out the process of recruiting training participants in accordance with predetermined training targets.
  • Organising the implementation of training by ensuring all stages of the training cycle are implemented effectively.

Community Outreach and Organising

  • Reach out and build a constituency with stakeholders, including communities involved in the project ecosystem.
  • Organising constituents to ensure their maximum participation in the project.

Administration

  • Implementing administrative, finance and general clerk processes effectively as required.
  • Carry out data input, analysis and maintenance systematically.

Criteria and Competencies

Candidates are expected to have experience in assisting the implementation of medium-scale projects, passionate about coaching and community organising. Candidates are also expected to have been involved in climate justice or social justice campaigns. They have an interest in building collective strength through training, coaching and organising.

Candidates are expected to meet majority of the following criteria:

  • Have at least 2-3 years work experience in project implementation or other relevant work.
  • Have effective communication skills.
  • Proficient in professional English, both verbal and written.
  • Able to work under minimum supervision, independently motivated, and have good self-management skills.
  • Accustomed to working with remote collaborative work tools and devices.
  • Able to work flexible hours to accommodate different time zones.
  • Able to work in an environment with a high level of difficulty, including distance, and minimum logistics availability.
  • Willing to travel.
