Who we are
Muntigunung Community Social Enterprises is a group of mission-driven businesses creating sustainable livelihoods in one of the most remote and dry regions of Northeast Bali.
The initiative emerged from a long-standing community development program aimed at addressing economic vulnerability and creating sustainable income opportunities for local families.
Working closely with communities, we operate across sectors including food production, crafts, and trekking experiences. Each initiative is designed to build skills, strengthen resilience, and create long-term economic opportunities. We collaborate with partners across hospitality and retail to bring locally produced goods and experiences to market, while continuously working to improve our environmental practices in a challenging natural environment.
Role Summary
The Marketing & Communications Manager will lead the development and implementation of marketing and communications for the Muntigunung Community Social Enterprises.
This is a newly created role, responsible for building marketing structures, processes, and brand direction from the ground up. The position is part of a 2-year pilot initiative focused on strengthening the business development of the social enterprises, with a review after the first year.
The role requires a highly proactive and hands-on individual who takes initiative, works effectively across different teams, and turns ideas into action.
The Manager will develop a strong, unified brand, define clear positioning across products and experiences, and ensure that all communication efforts contribute to sales growth and long-term impact.
Working closely with the social enterprises, this role combines strategic thinking with day-to-day execution, while guiding the Marketing & Communications Coordinator and external specialists.
By strengthening sales and visibility through effective marketing and communications, this role contributes to more stable income opportunities for communities in Muntigunung and supports continued economic development in a historically underserved region of Bali.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Brand Development (Primary Focus)
Develop and implement an overarching marketing & communications strategy
Define brand positioning, messaging, and storytelling framework
Lead the development and rollout of a unified umbrella brand
Coordinate brand development processes with external designers and partners
Ensure alignment across all enterprises (Food, Handicrafts, Trekking, Batik)
Digital & Channel Strategy
Define channel strategy (social media, website, email, partnerships)
Set content direction and priorities
Oversee paid marketing strategy and budgets
Plan and oversee marketing campaigns across channels (products, tourism)
Ensure consistent brand presence across all platforms
Website & Digital Development
Lead the development and ongoing improvement of the website
Coordinate external web developer and ensure clear briefs and timelines
Ensure the website supports sales, storytelling, and user experience
Align website structure and content with brand and marketing strategy
Team Leadership & Coordination
Initiate and maintain coordination with the management of each social enterprise
Manage and guide the Marketing & Communications Coordinator
Define workflows, priorities, and planning processes
Review and approve key content and materials
Build and manage relationships with external partners (designers, agencies, media)
Performance & Analytics
Define KPIs (sales, engagement, reach, partnerships)
Track performance across channels and campaigns
Translate insights into improvements and strategic adjustments
Report progress to the management team
Budgeting & Project Management
Plan and manage the annual marketing budget
Track spending and ensure efficient use of resources
Prepare regular progress and performance reports
Support structured planning and documentation of marketing activities
Qualifications & Skills
Essential
5+ years of relevant experience in marketing, branding, or communications, with demonstrated ability to lead initiatives and work independently
Strong strategic thinking and planning skills
Experience building or managing brands
Strong writing and storytelling ability in Bahasa Indonesia and English
Experience managing teams or external partners
Fluent in Bahasa Indonesia and English
Preferred
Experience in social enterprises, NGOs, or sustainable brands
Experience in tourism, lifestyle, or Fast-Moving Consumer Goods sectors
Familiarity with the Indonesian market

Contract & Eligibility
Candidates must have the legal right to work in Indonesia
Full-time position (40 hrs/week, 18 days leave/year)
Bali-based / Hybrid (primarily work from home, with regular travel within Bali for coordination with teams and partners)
