About I-CAN
The IPB Centre for Applied Research in Nature-based Solutions (I-CAN) is a new center at IPB University dedicated to advancing the implementation of nature-based solutions (NbS) for climate change adaptation and mitigation. I-CAN focuses on applied research, knowledge mobilization, and capacity building to support socio-economically and environmentally sustainable practices in peatland and mangrove ecosystems.
The Role
As Managing Director, you will provide strategic leadership and oversee the day-to-day operations of I-CAN. You will be responsible for:
- Leadership & Strategy: Develop and implement a strategic business plan, ensuring alignment with IPB University and FINCAPES project goals.
- Partnership Building: Cultivate and manage relationships with industry, academic, NGO, and government partners.
- Fundraising: Secure funding for I-CAN through grants, private sector partnerships, and other sources.
- Research & Innovation: Oversee the initial setup of research projects, including proposal development, budgeting, and reporting.
- Communication & Outreach: Develop and implement a communication strategy to raise I-CAN’s profile and disseminate research findings.
- Capacity Building: Identify and advance capacity building initiatives for I-CAN staff and stakeholders.
- Administration: Manage human resources, finances, and space for I-CAN administrative staff.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree (minimum) in a relevant field (PhD preferred).
- Minimum 7 years of project experience with at least 4+ years of experiences in managing project related to forestry, natural resource management, or climate change.
- Proven success in stakeholder engagement and fundraising.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills (fluent in English and Indonesian).
- Strong commitment to climate action and sustainable development.
