We rebuild tropical fisheries with coastal communities
Blue Ventures is a marine conservation organisation that puts people first. We support coastal fishers in remote and rural communities to rebuild fisheries and restore ocean life. Our work began two decades ago in Madagascar’s remote coastal communities and is growing globally. Across a dozen countries, we are partnering with traditional fishers and community organisations to design, scale, strengthen and sustain fisheries management and conservation at the community level. We bring partners together in networks to advocate for reform, and share tools and best practices to support fishing communities across the globe.

The aim of which is to enhance the effectiveness of mangrove forest protection and marine protected areas; working with mangrove dependent coastal communities to integrate mangrove fishery and forestry management, alongside activities to develop and upgrade livelihoods. The sources of funding for this project is split between two institutional grants, amounting to around £2.5 million over the next 3 years, from the UK-Government managed International Climate Finance and European funding group the Blue Action Fund. Blue Ventures is leading a consortium of organisations to implement this project, comprising Yayasan Hutan Biru, Yayasan Mitra Insani and Yayasan Planet Indonesia, and works in close collaboration with government structures at local and regional levels.

We want you to demonstrate your adaptive management skills, both programmatically and financially, and your ability to build effective working partnerships. You will therefore need excellent interpersonal skills to manage the multi-stakeholder relationships and strong communications skills including fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
