Job Description.

We are looking for an experienced gender equality specialist to lead our work on gender mainstreaming, gender equality and women empowerment. This post includes managing, overseeing and leading research, evaluation, capacity building and technical consultancy assignments in this field. Please note that this is a cross-cutting specialist position, meaning that you will work across all pillars and all company’s portfolios.

You will join the company in a new exciting period of expansion, during which we are strengthening our global network, reaching out to new markets in Kenya, and launching our global Social Impact Training Platform. However, please note this is a long-term play and requires someone with a long-term vision ready to dedicate and co-create a global purpose-driven consultancy company.

About The Role.

As a Gender Specialist, you will be responsible for:​

  • Leading, managing and delivering a range of mixed-methods and multi-country research, evaluation and technical assistance assignments in the field of gender equality, women’s rights, and women empowerment across the globe;

  • Providing technical guidance and support as well as facilitating training and capacity building in the field of gender equality, women’s rights, and women’s empowerment;

  • Lead company events related to gender equality and women’s empowerment, and proactively contribute to knowledge networks and communities of practice in this field;

  • Lead business development initiatives, identifying and pursuing new opportunities in the field of gender quality and women empowerment, including building new partnerships, and drafting EOIs/tender opportunities;

  • Building and enhancing the company’s public profile, acting as the public speaker and public relations representative when relevant in ways that strengthen its profile, contributing to the website and social media, and communicating and maintaining trust relationships with shareholders, partners, and authorities.

  • Supporting relevant interventions across company pillars and performing other roles and responsibilities as delegated by the Director/higher management level.

Required Experience.

  • Master’s degree in gender studies, international relations, development studies or relevant field;

  • Demonstrate professional competence and expert knowledge in the areas of gender equality, gender mainstreaming and women empowerment, and excellent knowledge of current and emerging gender equality challenges;

  • Ability to provide technical advice as well as design and carry out gender mainstreaming in programming, project design, implementation, training and evaluations;

  • Ability to promote individual and organizational learning and knowledge sharing using formal and informal methodologies;

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills;

  • Willingness to tackle complex problems hands-on, applying conceptual, analytical, and critical thinking;

  • Proactive, able to work independently and within a project team, results-driven and flexible; excellent communication and leadership skills;

  • Creativity, flexibility, and a good sense of humour;

  • Fluent in Bahasa Indonesia (if the candidate is based in Indonesia) or Swahili (if the candidate is based in Kenya) and excellent English skills; knowledge of another language is an asset.

  • Salary: A nominal base salary with additional benefits based on the achieved results. The compensation package will depend on the level of experience and agreed working arrangement.
