Daily Qualitative Research Consultant – Use of Calibrated Drape in PPH Management

Overview

Jhpiego/Indonesia is seeking a qualitative researcher to involve in an assessment entitled: “Process and results of a small-scale activity to introduce calibrated drape for objective measurement of blood loss in improving PPH bundle of care in Garut District, West Java Province, Indonesia.” This will be conducted in selected healthcare facilities i.e., hospital and puskesmas in Garut District, West Java.

The consultant should be very experienced in conducting qualitative research. This includes experience in collecting data through qualitative methods, especially key informant interview, as well as managing and analyzing the data.

  • Location: Garut District, West Java
  • Timeframe: May-June 2026

 

SCOPE OF SERVICES

  • Engage discussion to orient the researcher to data collection instruments and their application
  • Conduct in-depth interviews with key informants (+ 20 informants)
  • Manage and analyze the data gathered through the interviews
  • Write study report

 

EXPECTED OUTCOMES & DELIVERABLES

  • Raw data – interviews transcribed
  • Summary table (matrix) from data analysis
  • Final report

CONDUCT OF THE WORK

During the contract, the consultant will report directly to Research and Evaluation Director.

 

REQUIREMENT

  • Academic Background: Master’s in Public Health, Medical Anthropology, Sociology, Epidemiology, or a related Social Science field.
  • Seniority: Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in qualitative research, with a proven track record of leading multi-phase studies from design to dissemination.
  • Domain Expertise: Prior experience in Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) or sexual and reproductive health. Familiarity with the clinical pathways of PPH is highly preferred.
  • Advanced Analysis: Proficiency in qualitative data analysis software (e.g., NVivo, ATLAS.ti, or Dedoose) and the ability to perform complex thematic synthesis or framework analysis.
  • Experience in translating qualitative findings into actionable health system improvements or clinical guidelines.
  • Ability to converse effectively with midwives, obstetricians, and hospital administrators regarding PPH management (e.g., uterotonics, uterine massage, or blood transfusion protocols).
  • Ability to travel to the study sites.
