Conservation Strategy Fund (CSF Yayasan Strategi Konservasi Indonesia) is looking for a Director for the CSF-Indonesia office. The Country Director will be responsible for the overall leadership of the organization, including resource management for new projects, financial administration of the office, human resource management, and technical oversight of the various training, research, and technical assistance programs implemented in Indonesia.

The ideal candidate will work actively with CSF’s international team and with conservation leaders from other organizations to extend CSF’s operations and impact in Indonesia.

The Country Director must have the ability to combine technical expertise in the supervision and application of economic and finance tools for climate and conservation solutions with project management skills and the pursuit of new opportunities. The Country Director will report directly to the Executive Director and will periodically report to the Indonesia Board of Trustees. The Country Director may be involved in regional projects when necessary.
Responsibilities:
- In line with CSF’s global strategic plan, develop initiatives and pursue opportunities aimed at increasing the impact of CSF’s work in Indonesia.
- Develop a fundraising management plan, and actively seek funding opportunities through the preparation of competitive technical proposals and by managing invitations from direct donors.
- Diversify the donor base of CSF Indonesia to improve financial sustainability and expand CSF Indonesia’s portfolio of work.
- Develop annual work plans and budgets to meet programmatic goals and objectives.
- Actively supervise and support research and training activities implemented by CSF in Indonesia and other countries in the region as required.
- Monitor projects to ensure implementation within deadlines, available budgets, and according to CSF’s quality standards and protocols.
- Make executive decisions regarding the implementation of programs and projects in Indonesia.
- Disseminate project results to relevant stakeholders to ensure maximum conservation impact.
- Create institutional strategies that align with CSF globally, gaining approval from the CSF team and its institutional partners in Indonesia.
- Collaborate effectively in the design and implementation of programs in coordination with the Executive Director and the international CSF team.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with partner organizations.
- Manage staff to ensure their motivation, well-being, and performance.
Experience and Required Skills:
- Proven success in fundraising activities for a non-profit organization, particularly with donors funding environmental programs in Indonesia.
- At least 7 years of experience leading and managing research projects involving the application of economic tools with a conservation focus.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and project management.
- Knowledge and appreciation of Indonesia’s natural ecosystems, political history, and conservation efforts, as well as the role of economics in achieving conservation goals.
- Excellent understanding and appreciation of the role and value of economics in the design of conservation actions and policies.
- University degree in economics, business administration, or related disciplines. A Master’s or Ph.D. in economics or a related field and/or practical experience in applied conservation and natural resource economics (essential).
- Fluency in both English and Bahasa Indonesia (spoken and written).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to effectively represent CSF in high-level meetings and presentations.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently within Indonesia and abroad.
- Proven ability to collaborate and build networks with diverse individuals and organizations both locally and internationally.
- Indonesian nationality required.
Compensation:
Proportional to experience.
Location:
This is a full-time, on-site position based in Indonesia. CSF does not sponsor work visas; candidates must have full permanent working rights in Indonesia.
