Background
The FINCAPES (Flood Impacts, Carbon Pricing, and Ecosystem Sustainability) project is a multi-stakeholder initiative designed with a gender-responsive approach to support Indonesia in adapting to climate change, mitigating its impacts, and conserving biodiversity in a socially and economically sustainable way. FINCAPES is jointly implemented by the Faculty of Mathematics and Faculty of Environment at the University of Waterloo, funded by Global Affairs Canada. It is a 5.5-year initiative aimed at building capacity within government institutions, universities, and relevant partners. In collaboration with IPB University, which has extensive experience in restoration and conservation efforts, the FINCAPES project aims to enhance and accelerate Indonesia’s adoption of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) for the restoration and conservation of peatlands and mangroves.
The project supports the establishment and operationalization of a research centre called the IPB Centre for Applied Research in Nature-based Solutions (I-CAN). I-CAN conducts research, field trials, and documentation to develop better NbS practices, aiming to sustainably restore critical peatland and mangrove ecosystems and preserve biodiversity at target locations. These restoration sites serve as living laboratories for I-CAN, offering valuable insights and practical applications for ecosystem restoration and climate change adaptation.
Proposal Requirements
Interested individuals or agencies must submit a proposal that includes:
- Business registration, or alternative licence/certification demonstrating formal legal authority in carrying out the type of works described in the Annex 1 – Technical Brief.
- A summary of past similar work carried out in the last 5 years, preferably related to social, environmental or water management activities.
- Technical proposal: Describe how your proposed activities align with the objectives and strategies outlined in Annex 1 – Technical Brief.
- A brief statement demonstrating an understanding of the assignment.
- CVs of the technical personnel to be involved in this works.
- A proposed work plan, including a task schedule and key milestones.
- Financial proposal: detailing all activities listed in the technical proposal, equipment, materials, and personnel cost (template to be provided). Financial proposals should be in IDR and include all taxes.
- Names and contact information for three (3) referees familiar with similar work.
- Proposal must be submitted in English language.
Proposals are limited to a maximum of ten (10) pages, excluding references and company documents. Please also attach supporting documents such as company/organization profiles and portfolios.
