Overall Description of Position: Starling Resources is seeking a qualified associate to play a key role in the development and implementation of natural resource-related business and financial planning, institutional strategy development, and other activities to support sustainable local livelihood development, environmental program design, and NGO institutional development. The ideal candidate will be able to apply private sector tools, such as financial, strategy, and market analyses, to environmental initiatives. The individual will be expected to be able to work both independently and as part of a team and will have the opportunity to contribute to Starling Resources’ organizational strategy and business development. The individual will also be expected to contribute to internal and external communications, development of reports and deliverables, and the meeting of project timelines and commitments, all as required in the course of project implementation. The associate should be comfortable liaising with private sector, NGO, and government partners, and should be comfortable working with local community members. The Associate will work closely with Starling Resources’ team of experts and the staff of implementing partners. The position will be based in either Jakarta or Bali with frequent travel.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Program Associate’s duties are expected to include (but are not limited to) the following:
• Lead the development of business and financial planning for wide variety of environmentally-motivated interests including conservation projects, sustainability-focused institutions, sustainable resource-based economic development projects, and the mainstreaming of environmental measures into corporate practices
• Lead drafting and development of client deliverables including business plans, strategy analyses, financial projections and other related work products
• Lead and/or contribute to other project management-related tasks, such as timeline and deliverable management, and the planning and implementation of project activities
• Contribute to overall program strategy and design
• Report directly to Starling Resources’ director

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:
• Indonesian National
• Master’s degree in business administration, natural resource economics or a related field
• Minimum of three years’ professional experience working on business and financial planning and strategy
• Experience preferred with natural resource-based commodity markets, such as forestry, coffee, rubber, rattan, palm oil, and/or fisheries

• Strong computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
• Strong English writing skills, good communication skills in both Bahasa Indonesia and English
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, work long hours when needed, and travel frequently
TERM: 12-month contract renewable contingent on performance and mutual agreement

SALARY: Salary and benefits are competitive and dependent on qualifications
